Our young patient presented in our office with a major complaint of having a gummy smile.She was in the midst of planning her wedding and inquired about procedures that could change the appearance of her smile. As the adjacent photos show... our patient also had an unusual characteristic to her smile. Her upper lip had a tendency to ride up high on her upper arch... exposing an above average amount of gum tissue. Gum Contouring - Crown Lengthening
After consulting with Dr. Nemeth, it was determined that she could undergo crown lengthening, resulting in a recontouring and reshaping of her upper gum structures that would reveal more tooth area.The excessive gum tissue gave the appearance of having small teeth. The 2nd and 3rd photos in our series show how the connective tissues between the patient's upper lip and gum structures were altered and resutured.
